Back-to-Back, 2 International events of the elite of Adaptive Surfing will be held in Costa Rica in June

Costa Rica’s Central Pacific is once again the destination for the elite of Adaptive Surfers and Parasurfers from all over the world.

The success of the three editions of the Open of Adaptive Surf in Jacó (2019, 2021 and 2022) paved the way for a firm vision of the Adapted Surf Association of this country ADESURFA. This 2023 we will be pleased to host the two most important independent tours for this exponentially growing community of competition.

THE EVENTS:

Para Surf League Open Costa Rica

This event of global attention reaches the Central Pacific with the support of AMP Surf, creators of the Para Surf League and with the endorsement and standards of the International Surfing Association, the entity responsible for the World Championship and the Olympics in all its divisions and which is currently seeking the inclusion of Para Surfing in the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.

Back to Back

This is the vision of the organizing parties of the most awaited Back-to-Back by the community of Adapted Surfers since our country positioned itself in the focus of this group of highly competitive athletes:

"This back-to-back It is an elite sports opportunity to provide a space for the highest performance to our athletes. But it is also a socioeconomic contribution to our beaches that are so in need of accessible sports infrastructure, positive exposure and development comprehensive community.

Therefore, it takes a lot of work to carry it out and that is why we are knocking on the doors of local governments and businesses so that the execution of these events is successful and beneficial to all parties involved.

It is a dream come true, something that God embodied from our hearts in the ADESURFA’ statutes and that will now mark the history of sport in the country and of the many lives that will be part of these events and their repercussions.”

Gustavo Corrales, founder of ADESURFA.

“Our vision is that this event in Costa Rica is part of a global tour that incorporates this part of the continent, following the structure used in the Worlds where athletes get used to this structure that provides international classification and much more.

I recommend athletes come compete in the Open in Costa Rica to gain valuable competition experience, experience amazing Costa Rican surfing, climb the world rankings, and be part of a movement in our community to achieve a standard in these events.

Personally, my experiences in Costa Rica have been incredible and I highly recommend it. From the warm water to the incredible people, culture and food, Costa Rica has incredible experiences waiting for everyone.”

Dana Cummings President of AMPSurf.

“The objective of the A.A.S.P. is to sustain an international professional adaptive surfing tour and elevate the sport of adaptive surfing to an elite professional level. The goal of the A.A.S.P. is to have a sustainable four-stop professional world championship adaptive surfing tour that entails different elite surf breaks in exotic surf culture environments, combining points from each event for a professional adaptive surfing world champion in all nine divisions.

Surf Adaptado Costa Rica and Gustavo Corrales have been building an elite adaptive surf event in Costa Rica since 2018 which provides a friendly exotic surf culture environment, with an elite wave like Boca Barranca offering the opportunity for adaptive surfers to show the world their full potential as professional adaptive surfers. Costa Rica is one of only a few places on the earth that can raise the Association of Adaptive Surfing Professionals platform and the sport of adaptive surfing to an elite level.

The Visit Oceanside AASP World Tour is making history in professional adaptive surfing giving away record prize money in the first year. Costa Rica is helping us write the next chapter in the history books by making this a true world championship tour at a very elite wave like Boca Barranca. The culture in Costa Rica is warm and inviting, the people of Costa Rica want to see professional adaptive surfing reach the highest goals, and the country of Costa Rica itself is something to behold. To pass up on this opportunity as an adaptive athlete to come to Costa Rica and compete at the highest level would be a mistake.

Charles Webb Presidente of Stoke for Life Foundation.

These events to be held in our Central Pacific in June are separate events with different visions but with the same goal: To grow the sport among the world's Adaptive Surfing community.

Both events will be organized, hosted and executed by the Adaptive Surfing Association Costa Rica ADESURFA, which has executed the events of this discipline since 2018, developed this sport in Costa Rica and responsible for carrying our flag to the Parasurfing World Championship since 2015.

So June promises a full week of the best high performance surfing with athletes from all over the world coming together to compete in the warm waters and incredible tropical surfing environment of Costa Rica's Central Pacific that you don't want to miss.
